Clare Emerges from the Pack
In an incredible championship where favorites failed to reach the semi-finals, Clare and Cork contested the All-Ireland final. The initial match on September 8 ended in a dramatic draw. The replay on September 28, the first All-Ireland hurling decider played on a Saturday, saw Clare win 5–16 to 3–16, securing their first title since 1997 with Shane O'Donnell scoring 3-3.
