Peace People Rally
On April 6, 1977, the Peace People movement organized a major rally in Belfast, calling for an end to the violence of the Troubles. The demonstration drew thousands of participants from both communities, highlighting a growing public desire for peace during a particularly violent period. The Peace People, founded by Mairead Corrigan and Betty Williams, were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1976 for their efforts to promote reconciliation.
