Unfinished 1888 Championship due to US Tour

September 25, 1888

The second All-Ireland championship in 1888 remained unfinished due to the 'invasion' tour of the United States by the infant GAA's organizational staff and 48 players. The tour was a failure, and the All-Ireland was left incomplete with Kilkenny, Cork, and Clare still in the tournament. Seventeen of the 'invaders' never returned to Ireland.
