On January 5, 1976, ten Protestant factory workers were murdered by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) in what became known as the Kingsmills Massacre. The men were ambushed in County Armagh, Northern Ireland, as they were traveling home from work. This brutal sectarian attack occurred a day after the murder of five Catholics in the area, escalating the violence during The Troubles. The Kingsmills Massacre remains one of the most controversial and tragic incidents of the conflict.
