On March 26, 1922, an army convention of the Irish Republican Army (IRA) took place in the Mansion House, Dublin. Attended by 220 delegates representing 52 of the IRA's 73 brigades, the convention passed a resolution repudiating the authority of Dáil Éireann, the parliament of the Irish Free State. This event highlighted the deep divisions within the republican movement following the Anglo-Irish Treaty and set the stage for the Irish Civil War, as a significant portion of the IRA refused to accept the legitimacy of the new Irish government.
