On November 20, 1983, three gunmen attacked a Pentecostal church near Darkley, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, killing three Protestant civilians and wounding seven. The attackers were members of the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA) acting on their own, claiming responsibility as the "Catholic Reaction Force." They stated it was retaliation for recent sectarian attacks on Catholics by loyalist groups. The INLA leadership condemned the attack, though one of the gunmen was an INLA member who had been supplied with a weapon by INLA leader Dominic McGlinchey.
