Cork began a three-year dominance of the championship in 1892. Their All-Ireland final against Dublin was controversial, as referee Dan Fraher initially awarded a goal to Cork but then referred the decision to the GAA's Central Council. Dublin had already left the field, leading to Cork being awarded the title.
