The 1890 All-Ireland final between Cork and Wexford was marred by ill-tempered behavior. A Cork player's toe was broken, leading Cork captain Dan Lane to walk his team off the field in protest while trailing. The GAA's Central Council later sided with Cork, awarding them the All-Ireland title.
