On December 3, 1792, a significant Catholic Convention commenced in Dublin, lasting until December 8. The primary objective of this assembly, held at Tailors' Hall, was to advocate for the repeal of the remaining Penal Laws in Ireland. These laws severely restricted the rights of Roman Catholics regarding land ownership, education, and religious practice. The convention culminated in the signing of a petition, which was subsequently presented to the King in London. This event played a crucial role in the reform movement, contributing to the eventual passage of the Catholic Relief Act of 1793, which granted some concessions to Irish Catholics.
