Henry FitzRoy, 1st Duke of Richmond and Somerset, was born on June 15, 1519. As the illegitimate son of King Henry VIII of England, he held a significant position within the Tudor court. In 1529, at the age of ten, he was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, a role that, while largely ceremonial due to his youth, underscored the English Crown's administrative presence in Ireland. His appointment reflected the political strategies of his father to assert control over the Irish dominion. FitzRoy's early death in 1536, at just seventeen years old, prevented him from taking a more active role in Irish governance.
